This Disney Toy Could Harm Your Children

Posted by: Eva Miller February 18, 2023

An incredibly popular childrens toy made by Disney has been recalled. The toy, advertised as the perfect "first" Disney toy for any child, has been recalled because it is dangerous for children. The Walt Disney Company scrambles to find an excuse for the potentially severe injury they could have caused children.

In May of 2022, Disney began selling a new line of toys marketed for children. The product line was called "My First," and it sold various small soft vinyl figurines of Disney characters. The figurines are meant to be a collectable keepsake for babies and young children. They are 4.5" long and 6.5" high. Characters in the line include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, and Stitch. Some of the soft vinyl figurines came with a bead rattle.

The toys were sold at BuyBuy Baby, amazon.com, and many other toy, gift, and bookstores around the United States and Canada. The BuyBuy Baby website describes the figurine: "Bring your little one's favorite characters home with the Disney Baby My First Mickey Mouse Vinyl Figurine. This beautifully designed figurine is made with a soft matte vinyl and sized perfectly for your baby to play, chew, and interact with."

On February 16, 2023, Kids Preferred ordered a recall on all of the "My First" figurines. The recall was because the figurines have detachable arms and legs, a major choking hazard. This news is shocking because the toys were designed and marketed as toys for children to chew on.

All of the "My First" figurine toys have been taken off the market. If you bought one of the 16,140 units that were sold in the United States, you are entitled to a refund. Their were also 600 units additionally sold in Canada.

The decision to recall the toy came after 10 reports were made that small parts had detached from the figurines. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported from the toys. The Walt Disney Company has not commented on the recall. Anyone with one of these figurines should immediately take them away from children and contact Kids Preferred immediately. Kids Preferred will send you a pre-paid shipping label for you to send the product back.
